Updating Data in ACCDE

What is the most effective way to synchronize the .accde and .accdb versions of an Access database. If I distribute an .accde file but subsequently make structure changes to the tables in the .accdb version, I need to get all of the users' new data in the .accde file loaded into the new structures (the accdb) before creating a new version of the .accde file.

The user is adding data to the .accde database that I gave him. If I make a change to one of the tables (say I add a couple of fields) I need to get that version of the database to the user. So I could generate a new .accde and send him that but he would lose all the updates to the data that he made in his original copy.

So, I have to bring my new structures and his data together before generating a new .accde file.

So you're not all sharing the same tables? This is a separate remote database where the user has their own set of data and you're basically just sending him a new app. In this case, you will have to import all of their data from the old ACCDE into your new ACCDE. Delete all of the data from the NEW version, so they have blank tables. IMPORT the data from the old database file. You can do this manually or with a little automation.

Richard,
OK, thank you, I can do that.

I would have gone into more detail, but I know you're a 10 year Developer student and you understand what I mean. This is why I love the new Badges. :)  Remember, it's important to clear any existing data in the tables because when you import, you want the autonumbers to realign.  If you have existing data in the table, you may get renumbered.
