Clearing Search Combo
Elaine Heltman

I have a continuous form with a few search combo boxes to locate different types of information on the form. When I search (click) in one combo box, I want the other search combo boxes to clear so the user is not confused.

Also, I want the search result field highlighted in the form. I created a conditional format rule, but it highlights only the first field in the row of the search result, not the actual result.

I searched on the website via the "search" feature, but many of the Google links are broken. And, I'm in the middle of the Search Seminar, so perhaps I havent reached the lesson with my answer yet!

All you really need to do is set the other combo boxes to NULL. For example, if you've got Search1, Search2, and Search3, and you want to clear 2 and 3 when 1 is picked, then in the AfterUpdate for Search1 just say:

'DO YOUR SEARCH STUFF HERE
Search2 = NULL
Search3 = NULL

For the 2nd half of your question, I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

Thanks, Richard! I'll give it a try. - Second question:
My continuous form is 5 fields across by about 100 rows down. When the user selects XYZ Lease (LeaseName) from the search combo, I want the XYZ Lease to be highlighted in the form to make it easy to see. I tried using conditional formatting to accomplish this, but only the first field is highlighted in the row of where XYZ Lease is located and not XYZ Lease. I've also tried to change the condition to highlight the entire row, but still only the first field highlights. Does that clarify things? Thanks.

So you want to highlight the entire row if XYZ Lease appears in a specific field. You need to apply the format to every field, but in the fields other than the one that value is in, you'll need to use an Expression. Like in this video: Conditional Format Expression
