ABCD Database

Hi Richard:

I'm curious about this question I have.  I was looking at the ABCD database you been building and looking at the entity form and I know on the entity form you have field date created.  Is that the date you put in when the entity is entered into the database?

Hey Joseph, you can use that field for any purpose.  I personally use that field for when that Entity(Customer or Business) became my client, not necessarily the date I put them in the database.

Hi Pete:

Thank you for letting me know.  Really appreciate it.  I love watching the lessons I get from Richard and techhelp videos and also the core lessons when he builds onto the ABCD database.

Not a problem.  We are all here to learn.  I love watching and learning from Richard, too.  My only advice, from experience, don't jump around.  Do courses in order.   Also, remember ABCD is not a teaching course.

Hi Pete:

I have question for you.  I have the date created field in my contact database in my form and I want to be able to have the date show in the field like what Richard has in the ABCD database.  I'm not sure if I have somethig set right.  How can i have the date show in the date created field so when i enter a new record the date will already be there.

Assuming you mean the default value? You can set that to Date() and it will always be the current date when setting a new record.

Hi Pete:

So I just have to set the default Value to Date.  I will let you know.  I know i needed default value.  Wasn't sure if was date or what i had to put.  I will do that.  I will let you know.

Hi Pete:

I'm in the form in my contact database and i clicked on the created date field and went to the data tab and put in date for the default value and not sure why not working.
