Linking Subforms
Jim Baldner

I have a mainForm containing two subForms, sub1 and sub2.  Sub1 and Sub2 are both linked to the mainForm.  What I would like to do, is link Sub2 to Sub1.  I know I could set the source of sub2 to a query thats has criteria equal to sub1, would prefer not to do it that way.  Any suggestions?

What about just making the sub2 subform inside of the sub1 subform? Then just putting sub1 on your main menu?

Further to my quandary regarding two subforms in the main form, I have temporarily changed the sub2's control source to a qry that uses criteria dependent on a field in sub1.

I'm now stuck on how I can code references to sub2 from sub1.  Specifically, I'm attempting to use the Do.Cmd.SearchForRecord,"mainform" "Sub2form",acFirst,"[TicketID] = " & sub1.TicketID

Hi Adam, what I'm looking for is two separate forms in datasheet view.   As far as I am aware nesting one inside the other causes one datasheet with the "+"subdatasheet view..

Thx for your reply though.

I would use two continuous subforms. You can get values from one to the other.

Fields on a subform: Forms!ParentFormName!SubFormName.Form!FieldName

If you want to be able to click on a value in one subform and have it change the other subform, see the extended cut for the Union Query video. Same concept.
