Alex - no they are not in the EVIL stuff.  They should be though.

Jim - the answer to your question is No don't use them.  You are better off making a table to hold your lookups.
The only thing I might waffle on is using a FIXED value list that will never change.  Such as Gender for example.
Male, Female, Unknown  (leaving politics out)

Even then I believe that the better option would be to utilize a Helper Table.  Much more flexible.

See this TechHelp:  Consolidate Tables with Helper Data

I didn't see anything related in the Evil Access Stuff link. Do you mind elaborating a little further with your thoughts

I think they are covered in beginner 8 part 5, if i remember correctly they have issues of not updating values if you change a value. Although I recall running into other problems with them.

Apparently, I must have forgotten to list them on the Evil Stuff page. That oversight has been corrected. And frankly, all of you Veterans deserve to be flogged and purged for not catching this grotesque occurrence sooner! Pshaw!

No, I do not like Lookup values in tables. I do not like them here nor there. I do not like them anywhere. I do not like them SAM I AM!

I'll expound on WHY in a future video, but essentially you're putting a layer of garbage in your table that really shouldn't be there. It should be in a form. The table should hold data. That's it.

Guilty as charged Fleet Admiral Rost.  Where did you teach us this so I can re-watch?  Why didn't you catch it all-knowing-one?
LOL
