Cascade Combo Box With Value List
Carmen Vazquez

Hi - not sure if this is possible or not and please pardon my long windedness on explaining my issue - but I have a main form with a subform.  The main form has two combo boxes:

WorkType combo box has a Value List ("","Show All","Line","Station")

Requestor combo box is a query:
Select RequestorID, RName,
From tbl_Requestors Right Join on RequestorID = qryAll.RRequestorID Group By RequestorID, RName -
qryAll is the datasource for the subform.  the reason I join it is so that I only get requestor's that have a project in queue
Bound Column = 1

The subform on its own filters to the current user on Load but won't filter when the main form loads (we're ok with that for now but if you have suggestions I'm all ears)

So originally the only filter was the "Requestor's combo box" linked to the subform by the RequestorId.

Now I've been asked to include another filter by work type.  The options are shown above but WorkType is also another table.  I'm not using it because I only want those distinct values and when I try to query I get each instance of Line or Station and I don't have the "Show All" option.

So I need to basically
1. load the main form with the subform filtered to the current user (Requestor)
2. WorkType combo box - when "Show All" is selected, it should show all the records on the subform regardless of Requestor but allow the second filter on the Requestor combobox.
3. If the Combo box filter is Line or Station then filter the subform on that work type and also allow the second filter on the Requestor combo box to filter the subform again.

I've done cascading boxes on my forms for selections when filling out the form but not to search especially when it's a value list.  What do you recommend?

Hi - not sure if this is possible or not - The answer to this is almost always Yes, the real question is HOW.

Could you upload some pictures of what you're trying to do so I'm sure I understand? Snip & Sketch

I've done something very similar to this recently for someone and it was basically just setting the combo box row source in the oncurrent / afterupdate events. This may be the same solution.
