Unable to Save ACCDE File
Katherine Bradshaw

I split my database on April 7.

1. The file I'm working on is WNAC.accdb, which is in "Katie Database Experiments" folder in a shared network folder.

2. The data tables are in a file named WNAC_BACKEND.accdb, which is in "Database" folder in a shared network folder.

3. Executable files named WNAC_USERCOPY.accde are in the "Database" folder and have been copied to this computer and another workstation in desktop folders.

I made some changes to the database over the past few days, including creating some new tables, which I successfully linked to the new database. (I struggle with this a bit, because I always have to write the shared folder filepath, instead of the C drive it keeps defaulting to.)

After doing some more work today, I wanted to distribute the new version. I went to WNAC.accdb to "save as" WNAC_USERCOPY.accde. I get an error message "unable to create accde file".

My blood ran cold. Yes, I've got backups from before the split, but I've done a lot of work since then.

Have I made some kind of unrecoverable error? I am completely out of brain juice and time today and likely won't be able to focus on this again until after the Easter holiday. If anyone has suggestions for where I should start when I get back, I'm all ears!

Did you Compile your database?

Debug - Compile

Nope. Thanks for the tip. I'll try that when I have the chance.

Yeah, I got this on my first run. It usually means there is an error in your code which isn't being picked up. Doing as Kevin says will usually jump to where the error is - you fix it and re run compile until all clear, then you'll be good to go. Failing that, you might need to Decompile, then recompile the database (this has worked in the past for me as well). When all else fails, you can transfer everything into a new access database file but I doubt you'll Have to go that far.
Search for 'troubleshooting' and 'compile' Tech help videos - absolute essentials and worth keeping saved somewhere in case you ever get a a point like this.
