So you want to date stamp when to change when a control is activated/changed? As alex says, use the AfterUpdate on the control and do something like

DateControlName = Date()
Or
DateControlName = Now()

Thanks for the options.   First, I did have =Date() already in the field.  I tried =Now(), still no update.

Perhaps the challenge is that there is another date field in the table (Order Date)  Perhaps the solution lies in somehow connecting the Status Field to the Status Date field.

I can't help but feel like you misunderstood the instructions. This is exactly what after update does. Just to verify,

You went into your status field properties, went to events, after update, created an event similar to
YourFieldNameYouWantToSetGoesHere = Date()

When you save or leave the status field, the after update event fires and changes the value of YourFieldNameYouWantToSetGoesHere to Date() make sure you replace that with your actual field name, if you click on the date field and go to the properties you can see the name, it may not be the same as the control source, it could be text18 or something else random. Just make sure the field names are correct and that will work.

If this is what you are doing and it's not working, something is off, please provide some images to try and figure out what you're doing. Image Uploads

You have to figure out what event "triggers" that update, then put the event there. =Date() just says "always put the current date here." I've actually got a video on this coming out soon.

Richard Rost: I'm glad you are working on a video. I've been trying to get the field NoteDate in a subform to update no matter which field in the record changes, but nothing so far has worked.
