Hi Kevin, thanks.. I Checked that video but unclear how I would apply that to this situation.. I noted there are wildcards for specific characters in any position, specific characters in specific positions, but nothing about each word regardless of the position.
In my example, I have a field that contains a long string, and I need to check each individual word in that string against a field in another table.  would this be multistep process where I first need to somehow break the string up into the individual words and then loop through them ?

and apologies in case i wasn't clear.. in the example above i'm not telling the query to look for the word "Shure" in that string, that just happens to be the word from that particular record that would give me the result I want from the other table.. each of these strings has a different "manufacturer" or "model" that may or may not be in my target table.

A full example would help

Hi Alex, Using the example description field in the OP with the string, I would want to search the "manufacturer" field in another table with:
"261264" or - "VENUS" or "AUDIO" or "AND" or "LIGHTING" or "ENGINEERING" or "COMPANY" or "LIMITED" or " - "SHURE" or "E500" or "EAR" or "MONITOR"

Is this the sort of thing you are looking for. In my example I hard coded a string of States for demonstration purposes. I created an Array() with the Split function and returned every First Name based on each element in the array. (see screenshot).

Obviously it will need some work to suit your individual needs.

Hi Kevin... thanks for looking at this.. think what I need to work out is how to output a string that can be used as search criteria that places an " OR " between each word of the source string.
