Sending a Database
Harold Laski

I have recently split my database with the back-end files in my NAS unit (Synology) in a folder called 'Databases' and the Front end in several computers on the network.  I now neeed to send a copy of the program to someone who is going to fix some programming errors for me in the database.  How and what do I send him since the database is now split?

Hi Harold
If the person is fixing the programming errors, then they will be in the FE. If it involves the tables, then they are in the BE. It is possible that what is fixed could involve both the FE and BE. Most likely it will be the FE

I would think that I have to send both the FE and the BE for the person fixing the FE because he would need to have the tables to test it. How do I send both so that he can work on it.

Send a zipped copy of the front end and a zipped copy of the back end, whoever's working on it can re-link the tables on their end to troubleshoot.

Unless you have confidential information in your tables, then it's more involved.

Harold all you have to do is send him both files - the FE and BE .accdb files.  Zip it up and email it.
When he (they) are done you should be able to just replace your front end with the one you have now.
UNLESS he makes changes to the back end structure.  Then you would need to empty the tables and import the good data into the new tables.
Once you have the FE back you would need to deploy the FE files to each user as well.  It would also need re-linked to your computer's BE.
Take a look at the videos I linked in your previous message if you don' know how to do this.
