Is it possible to copy the value produced in a calculated field on a sub form to a field on another sub form when I open it. If so is there a particular lesson that covers this
Regards
Carl

Value From a Form

Just pass the value over to the other forms subform. If you close the first form before the second form opens, you'll have to use something like Tempvars to store it.

I've tried to do that but I'm obviously doing something wrong as it doesn't work. Thats why I was hoping the great man has a lesson which covers it

You can use a global variable (see Variables, Scope) or TempVars (see ACD31).

Yes, yes, Adam... a TempVars TechHelp video is coming.

What have you tried?

if your CustomerF has a subform CustomerDetailF with the Field called Invoice in the subform,
and you have a PartsF with a subform PartsDetailF with the Field called Invoice in the subform,
and you are trying to send that value over you could either say
Forms!PartsF!PartsDetailF.Form!Invoice = Invoice
OR
You could try setting the Default Value of the PartsFDetail Invoice
Invoice.DefaultValue=Forms!CustomerF!CustomerDetailF.Form!Invoice or just type it in manually to the field

Now if you want to apply it across many records in a subform, not just one, then you'll need a loop or a recordset to cover them all.

Yea, my examples only work if the form remains open while doing this, If it closes you'll need a global variable or tempvars :P.

I usually recommend you open form 2 and then close form 1. You can pass the value that way.
