Query Parameters
Maarten Brusselers

I use a aggregate query to get the balances of my seed stock (I own a hydroponic farm growing salads and tomatoes in Northern Thailand).  When I run it it asks me for the parameters for the SumOfSeedsBought and the SumOfSeedsUsed. I click ok to both without filling anything in, the query runs and gives me the correct data. I looked at the SQL but could not find anything amiss (admittedly I'm still learning). How do I get rid of this?

You don't have the fields SumOfSeedsBought or SumOfSeedsUsed in the query. You can tell it's looking for a field name by the brackets [FieldName]. I'm guessing that field isn't working properly either. You need to alias your two sum fields or use two queries. SumOfSeedsBought: SeedsBought with the sum total and same for used

But in the SQL there is the aliases SumOfSeedsBought and SumofSeedsUsed.  When I click ok through the asked parameters the query is working fine so it is recognizing the fields.

Hi Maarten, under the column for "Balance", change "Group By" to "Expression" and it should get rid of the prompt for the parameter.  The values of "SumOf..." are the result of aggregation, and "Group By" tries to aggregate them again, which is not necessary and causing confusion to Access.  So, use "Expression" here.

That worked, thanks Kevin.
As I said earlier, I've stlll got a lot to learn
