In the past i wrote a database for keeping track of music charts and song data. The main tables were: Artist, credits (songwriter - producer), songs, charts.
The artists table often contains the same information, in the sense of: David Guetta, David Guetta feat. Chris Willis, Madonna vs. David Guetta, ...
Some artists are also songwriters or producers or members of a group, which is why they are also included in the table Credits.
To minimize that data i am trying to rewrite my database. all person information in 1 table, from there select as credits or artist or both.
In general it works quite well, only putting 2 or more artists together; I can't figure out, so that I can use them separately as well as in a different setup.
i've tried to create an extra table and store the value instead of the id, but then i'm basically back to my old database.

Many-to-Many You need a many to many relationship in a junction table, then you can assign 1 or 100 artists to each record, and they can be assigned to as many records as you want.

I am working on a music database too. Within my form, I am using a listbox with multiselect enabled. When saved, all the selected genres for the song are entered concatenated into one field. If there are multiple selections made, in the form, everything looks great in the one control source field on the form and in the table. What I am struggling with is later.

On another form, if I want to search all songs for a specific genre, I need to search (query) within that one saved field with the saved concatenated results and somehow parse out each different selection. The only alternative I can see is to add each of 20+ genre types (pop, rock, disco...) into another table and maybe somehow force the selected items to do a yes/no or true/false but that also complicates a search query.

I really don't want to make a checkbox or toggle to save each genre into the field and then yes/no for each inside a table. There has to be a way to pull it but I just don't know how.
