Is there a way to import a HTML file into either Access or Excel?

For what end goal?

Yes, there is.  In Access, go to External Data -> New Data Source -> From File -> HTML documents.  But it can only import HTML files that are locally stored in your PC.  It cannot import HTML pages from websites on the Internet.  You can, of course, save webpages on your browser to your PC.  The most useful feature is that if an HTML file contains tables, Access can import them directly into an Access table with all the column and field structure retained (see pic below).  There are some caveats: Access may not recognize certain webpages, and may not be able to import some tables (dynamically generated ones, for instance).

In Excel, you can import from Internet webpages as well as local HTML files.  Go to Data -> From Web (on the ribbon).  It will ask you for the URL.  You can type in either an Internet URL (http://www.mywebsite.com/...) or a local file address (C:\My Documents\MyWebPage.HTML).  But, like Access, it cannot import certain webpages nor certain data.  Microsoft is pushing its Power platform, which is a fee-based Internet-driven platform that is better at integrating with websites.
