Lesson video volume settings

I'm a new MyOLP member. When I start to watch a lesson video on the website, it always starts with the volume at maximum - it nearly gives me a heart attack every time.  There doesn't appear to be a way of setting/reducing the volume BEFORE starting the video.  Is there any way to do that?  Also, is there a way to have the next lesson in a series play automatically when the current one finishes? The only solution I've found is to download the lessons and use my own media player which allows me to do both those things.

Sorry for this very basic question - I've probably missed an instruction somewhere.

I'm able to adjust the volume before I push play on mine. If you aren't, maybe you could lower your windows sound settings instead so it isn't as loud when the video starts. As for the continuation, that I know of there's no way for you to do that, you would need a "play list" of sorts, It would need to be coded into the site that once the video finishes to move to another video which currently isn't available.

Hi Adam.  Many thanks for the quick response, but I don't seem able to replicate what you describe.  For example: I choose 'My Courses' then 'Beginner 3' and then I'm presented with a page that list all the lessons in Beginner 3.  Say I then click on Lesson 03 - Field Properties 3; the chosen lesson starts to play immediately - I don't get a chance to adjust the volume before it starts.  Maybe you have a different way of starting the lessons that does give you that opportunity?  I find the volume varies quite a bit between the lessons I've sampled so far, but the one I mention above is particularly loud.  As you say, I could just adjust the Windows volume, but then every time I play some other media I've got to fiddle with that again.

Thanks,

Colin.

Ah yea, I was looking at a tech help not a course. There are some extravagant ways around it like you could just program your own button to play the class or copy/paste the link and set autorun to 0 (false) but they're just as much effort if not more depending on your comfort-ability then to change the windows sound. I don't think there is any good "easy" way around it other than if Rick were to change all the video links to have autoplay off, but I don't think it's a problem to other users currently.

Ok Adam, thanks.  That at least confirms I'm not missing something obvious.  I'll simply download the lessons (I was planning to do that at some point anyway) and use my own media player which will allow me to preset volume, automatically play a series of lessons, and also preset the playback window size.

I wasn't being picky - I just thought I was missing something obvious.  Having sampled a few more lessons now, I realise they've been produced over quite a period of time with differing environments and settings.  Trying to get a consistent sound level would be a nightmare!

I miss the old AVP. We should rebuild that in VB.NET or twinBASIC
