Tab Key Behavior
Richard Pitassy

I have a form with a Notes field formatted as Long Text.  After text has been added, pressing the Tab key once highlights all of the existing text.  Pressing it a second time, deletes all of the existing text.  The Return key behaves normally.
I'm concerned that users will inadvertendly delete Notes while entering or editing.  Is there a way to deal with this?   Thanks.

Nevermind!  False alarm!  I did find "a" solution to basically disable the Tab key with the following code in the On Key Down event:

Private Sub VersionNotes_KeyDown(KeyCode As Integer, Shift As Integer)
    Select Case KeyCode
        Case vbKeyTab
            KeyCode = 0
    End Select
End Sub

I think this will work for me but if anyone has a better solution I would be interested.  Many thanks.

It sounds to me like the tab isn't deleting the existing record, but maybe just trying to add another records. Have your tried going to the forms property sheet, Other tab, and set CYCLE to "Current Record".  This is what I had to do.

This video covers what Sandra's talking about.

Tab Stop, Order, Cycle

When I read your posts I thought "OF COURSE! How could I miss that?"  I took a look at the form and discovered that the Cycle event was already set to Current Record.  I'll check out the video you suggested Kevin and see if there is a clue as to what's going on.  Thank you both for weighing in.  If I come up with something I'll post it.  In the meantime, my Key Down code is doing the trick.
