Combo Box add new record
Jon Capps

I remember a video, on when you use a combo box, and the record does not exist. You get a pop up in Access to add new record, then a form opens, the VBA code would open to new record, you would add the data. Then you close out that form, and that new data would show up as the item in the previous form. My searching skills have not yielded what I am searching for.

I need to add one more thing, on the first form that tells you there is no record in the combo box, and then you select yes to add the new record, what ever you typed in the combo box would load in the new record on the form for adding new records

I see you have the Search Seminar.  From the outline that was shown / covered in

okay, I went to that part in the video, it was helpful, however, the trigger even it not working. I am typing in a new customer in the combo box, the customer does not exist . In the video you suggested the form is a search box, that is using a SQL vba code to search. Where I need help is when I start typing in the new customer in and they are not in that table that the combo box is attached to, I need to open another form, and add the new customer.  Now I have created a form to add the customer, and the form will open based off of me putting in the data tab property, list items edit form. That form opens when the new customer does not exist and I want to add one.

How can I get the data from the first from to populate the customer edit form. The data would be the customer name. On the new customer form, I want to fill in the data (which I can do), however I want to close out that form, and go back to the previous form that populate the combo box with the new customer information

I know I have seen this on a video, just not found it yet.

I cant spell!

lol, got another follow up question to this I watched the video, and I have the option to either click the yes add item or select the add item (will add image in moment) how can I open the add customer form to a new record from either button? I am sure it is something to do about addressing it in controls with VBA, just need to know what the control is.

In the screen shots, I have point the combo box to go to the form to add the customer, and I get the message, and when you click yes, the first record shows, I need to go to the add new record. I know how to program that in
VBA  DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec.
The confusion is from that button which is triggered rom the list items edit form (A) The other button that shows up on the list at the bottom, can that trigger to open the form to a new record with vba?
