Split Database Issue
Mary Squires

Hello,
I have just split my database which is located in a shared folder. So far 3 people are using it and 2 of them are having no issue. One of them is getting an alert every time they go try to use the front end of the database.
It says: "The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error 'E:\Database Files\Codes 2.0_be.accdb' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides."
I've tried repairing and compacting. I've tried uploading a new file. It doesn't do this with an unsplit database, only the split. And again this one person is the only one getting this error.

Hi Mary
does this person have access to the shared folder? also check the trusted folders in settings if he is running his own copy of the front end.

Hi Sami,
They do have access. I'll check on the trusted location setting. It's just strange to me that it would work unsplit, but not split. But I guess it could be because he has to include his desktop in the trusted locations?

is it a short cut on his desktop or is it a copy of the front end?

It is a copy of the front end

On the problematic front end:

- Open a table linked from your back end file.  If data appear, there is nothing wrong with the connection to the BE.
- Open the Visual Basic Editor, go to Tools -> References, and see if the selected items differ from the ones on the other front ends.

You said the FE is a copy, but is it the same copy as the other FEs?  Could users have made changes to the FEs?

Swap FE with another PC: move the problematic FE to another PC, and move a working FE to this PC.  If the problematic FE fails to work on two PCs, you have the answer.  If both FEs fail to work on that PC, then the PC is the culprit.
