Query Report Help
Gabriel Dungan

Hello! I have two tables. One table is the master record for a person, and I split out thier dependants into a diffrent table with the master ID linking them to the account. In these tables I record if the person or the depandant is a vetran. I need to create a query and a report that show who all are vetrans for a grant we need to write. So far writing the query myself has not given me what I need. Can anyone give me a step by step helpful hint?

These are my tables, the Sub_Neighbor_Table is linked by the Master_ID in the main table. It is a GUID that is non repeating, indexed with no duplicates.

Second problem:
Is Master_ID linked to Neibor_Mater_Record.

fix this problem and then we can help with the query

Hi Gabriel, in a one-to-many relationship like this, if you want to show the dependents, you have to show their master.  If the master person is *not* a veteran, but one or more of his dependents are veterans, then you have a problem: you have to show the non-veteran master in order to show his veteran dependents.  That will make it impossible to achieve your goal of showing only veterans in your report.  The band-aid solution would be to hide the non-veteran names on your report (by setting the control's visibility with VBA based on the values of your "Veteran" Yes/No field).  Better solutions would be more complicated.

I guess the real question is, How to I convert the Second Table's linking to see the first Index and keep all the data straight.

Hi Gabriel,

Identify the field with the correct ID. You can do this with 1 or more Queries. After you clean that issue, then deal with the second field that is an autonumber! Make a third table with the fields that you need and include the Veteran and Veteran Branch. Append each table to the new table and you have all Veteran and Veteran Branch in the third table.

HTH John
