MS Access 365 driving me nuts
Mark Fannin

I use overlapping views like Richard recommends.  However, sometimes I doubleclick on the form border in design view and the screen fills with the form and there is not an X (close) in the corner to return to tabbed view.  What gives?  I'm wasting a lot of time trying to figure this out.  Sincerely, Very frustrated.

There should be 2 sets of buttons in the top right hand corner of the Access window. Use the bottom set to control the form and restore it to a normal window.

Use your scroll bars to make the top right corner of the screen visible. It looks as if you may be viewing the left side of your screen only. I think you will see the icons Kevin is talking about when you are able to see the top right corner of the screen.

Posting additional screen capture of top right corner.  Nothing is there.  Drives me nuts.  I have to close and re-enter the database every time.  Thanks for taking time to respond.  I hope this never happens to anyone else.

In the Home tab you can use one of the options under Switch Windows to restore the form back to a Normal window.
Have you tried running Office Update?

Hi Mark, the "X" button only closes the form; it does not change to tab view.  The only way to change to tab view is go to File -> Options -> Current Database, choose "Tabbed documents," click OK, and restart Access.

Thank you all for your help.  Like Kevin Yip says, seems the only way is to ultimately restart Access (whereby I lose my train of thought and therefore it drives me nuts).  Restarting an app to restore a screen display seems "dramatic" and I was searching for a less instrusive method.  Access 365 is, obviously, online and I have ensured I have the most current version.  Thanks again to everyone for your attention help.

They probably think most people prefer one view to the other and stick to it, instead of switching back and forth.

Actually, sometimes I doubleclicked it out of habit - then instantly regretted it.  I will endeavor to persevere.  :)

Can you see the form min max and close icons if you minimize the ribbon?

Is this what you were asking Joe?

Yes. Now you can see the extra min max and close icons for the form.

Joe - you are a steely-eyed missile man!  Cannot thank you enough.
