Whenever I log in with a username and password the same username and password is still being displayed after i have closed out the database. How can i get a blank in the username and password fields

If values are being saved, you have it linked to a table and are entering records. The login screen should be an unbound form with unbound fields.

Dexter,

You did not address Adam's point. What is the login form bound to, if any?
Dexter Johnson OP  @Reply

It is bound to a table i have. In my database. So if i unlink the form from the table, then how do i set users to have certain access to certain forms based on the job postions. That was my main intent

The login form itself should be unbound and should basically just be two textboxes and a button basically. Once they've logged in, then you can use bound forms and use access normally.

Most of us have our Logon Form unbound. then when you get a successful login you set the values you want to control your user behavior.

I will show you a sample from my code next:

PS I use the Username and Computer Name from "Windows"

So what VBA code can I use in the login button in the form. Thats my biggest hurdle now. Because once they log in it needs to go to a form that they have access to

It all depends on how you set up your security.
If you look at my code, I have a groupID that, for me, controls what the user can do. My main menu will make visible only the options that the group can access. I can show you the rest of my code if you like.

The Access Security Seminar shows how to restrict access to certain areas of a database based on the currently logged on user.
