Simple Running Total
David Clement

Hello Richard,
Can you please remind me as to how to do a simple running total of sales for a salesman in an Access Query. I don't monthly figures or anything special, just a running total. I have one set up in my forms footer total and it works just fine. I just cant figure out how to do it in a query. I sure it's something relatively easy.
Thank you!

In a report it's super easy. In a form or query, not so much. See Check Register.

I don't know if this is right, wrong, good or bad, but I did get this to work by doing this. See Screenshots.
Thank your for help

That's not so much a running balance as it is a sum of the orders for that salesman, so it's not really adding up the ones above it. It's just an aggregate query showing the total for each salesman.

I think that's what I wanted. i have a form footer total that adds everything up.

OK, that's just a total then. A running total is what you have in, for example a check register.

Check#, Amount, Running Sum
101, 100, 100
102, 200, 300
103, 500, 800

And so on.

Okay. I guess maybe I am using the wrong term.
Thank you for pointing that out.
