This Field Cant Be Evaluated

I have a Parent Form with a LaborHrs Field and some Other Fields, a Subform where Parts used for the repair are listed and everything on the Subform is then totaled for this Work Order.  If I add just LaborHrs and No Parts in the Subform nothing happens in the Subform to show Totals for the LaborHrs, unless I deliberately place a digit like "0" in the Subforms "UnitCost" and a "0" in the Subforms "Quantity Field, then CLICK inside of the Subform again.  Now all of the Total fields will display "$0.00" and the proper cost of LaborHrs.  The Subform is LINKED to the Parent form.  This Problem Only occurs When I bring in a New Customer from the CustomerT.  Once there are "$0.00" in the Total fields there is no problem increasing LaborHrs.    The Parent Form shows an OrderID# but the Subforms OrderID# only shows "0"in the OrderID field until I tease the Subform, then both OrderId's match and all totals appear.  Thank you all in advance for any help.

It sounds to me like you have issues with Null values.
What is the default value for numeric and currency fields set to on your Table.

Thank you for your help reply. Numeric default values are 0 and currency defaults are $0.00. The Parent Work order form and Parts Subform do work properly to show Totals once initiated by me  by deliberately entering a zero in the Subform  Quantity and UnitCost field and then clicking into 'Unit '.or on the Subfirm.   I only have to do this initially after bringing in a new customer from the Customer table. After that any values entered in either Parent or Subform are instantly updated and calculated.  U
calculated.  Unit (a part description)  doesn't have a default value,  how would I make that Null? If you think that may be causing the problem.  This becomes an aggravation when I only have LaborHrs to enter, but no parts to list in the Subform where totals are calculated.   Thank you for your help.  Horace Conti
