Aggregate query format

I am trying to set up a query that tells me how many people have been seen each month. I have a table with personal data and another with visits by these people. Some people can be seen more than once, either the same month or different months. What I am wanting is to see how many encounters there are for each month. The current data is just dummy data. So I want to see it say 2 encounters for April etc. I have tried using count under "group by" but it doesn't work. I have attached the query design and the result when I run the query. Some help would be appreciated

Remove the Date and you need to perform the aggregate you want like COUNT

Thanks for your reply Alex. I have spent the afternoon watching a pile of Richard's videos on aggegate queries.Do you mean remove the date field from the query? I have tried that and then done a count on the NM field but it doesn't count up how many visits there were for April and then May etc - just tends to list them all.

the eternal battle of what you want to see when you create a query, it drives you crazy sometimes. You have entered all the data and you want to extract certain data via a query and you get something completely different or you are unable to see the correct information in your query. What are the right tricks and rules to handle queries. There are certain videos about this, it would be useful to go into more detail. It is often frustrating that you don't get what you expect.

So you don't care about PersonID, Firstname, DateSeen, you only want to know the COUNT of MN?

Yes that is correct Alex.

Hi Alex. I want t be able to set up a report based on a query that tells me how many visits there were for each month, the names of the people don't need to be in the report.
