Report calculation
Ben Egle

I have a report that sub totals the fields in the footer.
I would like to make a calculation of the sums within the footer. Such as [Profit]/[Sales] shown as a percentage. When I do this it returns an erroneous number

What value does it return?
What value are you expecting?

Returned value is 3772156% correct value should be 14%
The sum of profit is $37,722, The sum of sales is $267,123

Is it possible to divide the sum totals in a footer?

I would need to see but if you are doing this in the main report footer it might be doing the whole amount.  If you want it for the current record you need to create a grouping.  Or do the calculation in the query?  I am not sure without seeing the design or data.

Right off it looks like the returned value is just the profit value, correct? the sum of the profit is $37,721.56 and it's rounded up to $37,722. would like to see your code/properties on the 3 fields

Sorry for the delay of posting the screen shouts.  When there is only one listed it works when there are more, the calculation is wrong. I assume that I am referencing the subtotals wrong in the calculation, but not able to find the right solution.

Ok for my two cents worth (for what it's worth lol) I would divide the total amount (37,359) by the total amount (309,706) but use those two field names.

That is what I think I am doing but instead of 12% I get 428%.  Is there a different reference that I should be using for the two fields?

Ben, you want to use the name of the fields in the footer section not the name of the fields in the detail section.

Thanks for the help. Found out one of the footer section name was wrong.
