Trying to figure out the pros and cons of what i now see as the two "competing" methods.

Mr. Rost's method feeds the address through a URL and brings up any web browser you happen to be using. This is interesting as nobody is tying it to a specific browser's functionality, but is "clunky" as it does need to trigger the browser which comes up separately (if i understand, and that's a big "if").

The API method is "slicker" in terms of apparently (correct me if i am wrong please!) open it up within the Access framework, but i've seen a couple notices that when used with Edge not only has MS's incessant screwing with code broken it before, but it also seems that it might must be used with Edge (i wouldn't be a fan of that even if i liked Edge).

Just at the beginning of learning about this, wish to run off addresses, not coords,
all pros, cons, and experience is appreciated!

Thank you,
-Bruce

If you could create a web interface as your front end, then it wouldn't feel clunky to have it open another webpage.  But of course, creating web apps requires another set of skills.  Whichever way you choose, there will always be challenges.  But if you have long-term goals, it's naturally best to find the most future-proof solution.   That was why I migrated from Access front ends to web front ends in the early 2000s.  Nowadays everyone and their grandmas have access to web browsers, on devices that can take anywhere.  And I could still use the web interface I made 20+ years ago.

Kevin, for present purposes, you are flying well over my head! I understand what you are doing, but that is about the extent of it and as this is just a sideline (you wouldn't have known that for all the time i've invested in this idiot "little" project), to adapt at this point is beyond my consideration!

As i keep learning bit by bit, i now understand there is Microsoft's "let's force the world to use OUR browser "Edge Browser Control" in Access's "Form Design" tools.

I soooooo hate the way MS has by a combination of tactics and constant nags tried to compete with other browsers; even if Edge was great and superior in every respect (and/or any of it's predecessors) my immediate reaction is to shun it, but i must consider whether or not in this case to use it.

Any thoughts are appreciated, even if just to confirm my animosity towards them is strictly one of disgust-

You are always at MS's mercy in some way if you use Windows and predominantly MS software like Office, SQL Server, etc.  That's why there is only Edge Browser Control, not Firefox Browser Control, Chrome, etc.  No surprise there.  To be completely free of MS's control you would have to use another OS entirely.  This is why developers need multiple skill sets.  If you had the option to develop web interface or apps for other platforms, then you wouldn't be bothered that much by the annoyances in MS products.  Those who develop for platforms other than Windows were undoubtedly once driven away by annoyances of the Windows platform.

After long consideration, i believe the "Rost Method" best; it's a little late for me to get up to speed with Linux & OpenOffice or switching to web apps-

Many thanks for sticking with me-
Bruce
