VBA determining line number of an error in module
Bruce McCormick

Ahhhhhh, i got to use a little more caveman language in the subject! Who needs the word "a" as in "in a module" anyway!

This i once found a totally unfeasible solution to in Excel, which was in a quest for it perhaps ten to fifteen years ago. Wondering if our good friends at MS ever provided one that anyone knows of, and if not, Mr. Rost, would you please add it to the often cited "list" please?

The obvious use is when code throws an error to be able to report back module name (oh... that also...) and line number.

Thank you as always,
-Bruce

Use a proper IDE like Visual Studio and language like C# :p

Thank you!

I always had that wish, but didn't think i had the time, then as time went on i just became entrenched in VBA. Guess that no longer matters that much as my memory is not what it was ohhhhhh, 35 years ago (when i was 33...).

How hard is the jump to Visual Studio? I'm hoping there are common elements to VBA to make it a little easier-

Well it all depends on what you are wanting to develop.
If you're doing VBA in Office apps then you're kind of stuck with the VBE. And it's unlikely to be updated any time soon, if at all.

There are other helper apps like Rubberduck

twinBASIC for Applications (?)

Thank you. I do have RubberDuck installed but i have yet the opportunity to work with its capabilities, i installed it after reading over all it could do when all i was looking for was a simple code intent utility. I look forward to looking over twinbasic also.

Many thanks,
-Bruce
