Assigning Rank to Records in a Form Field using DCOUNT
Note:
This is a followup video to
Project Scoring with Multiple Criteria. It isn't necessary to watch
that video first, but if you want some background on where this database
comes from, check that lesson out first.
Q: In my Project Scoring database, I need to be able to
see the rank of the current record as I'm adding it (1st, 2nd, 3rd,
etc.). How can I do this? -Keith
A: You can use the
DCOUNT function to count the number of records in a table or
query. By adding a criteria to the function, you can count up how many
records have MORE points than the current record, and that basically
tells you the rank. See the video below for details.
