Microsoft Access Sorting & Grouping
Learn how to use Sorting & Grouping Levels in your Access Reports
Q: I have a database that tracks charitable donations. I
have a list of each of my doners and I want to be able to generate a
report that shows the total donations for each STATE in a report. How
can I do this?
A: While you could create an
aggregate query to handle this problem, it has the limitation that you
can't see all of your detail records as well - so you could see all of
the states and their totals - but no specific details on the doners.
What you want is to create a report with Sorting & Grouping levels in
it.

I teach the concepts in this free tutorial in my
Access 104 course. These are
full courses - over 60 minutes in length each. I spend a lot more time going
over how to do this, in addition to lots more tips and tricks.
