Well, you asked for it... based on popular demand, I just completed PART ONE of a new seminar to teach you SQL.
For those of you who don't know what SQL is, it stands for Structured Query Language. If you've been working with Access for any length of time, chances are you've built at least one query. Well, every query is written in SQL, and Access usually generates the SQL statement for you - behind the scenes - so you never have to see it, or know what it is.
But... once you learn what SQL is and how to use it, you can open up a whole new world of power, flexibility, and simplicity for your databases. Just like learning a little bit of VBA programming can take a mediocre database and make it a spectacular database, so too can SQL really bring your databases up to the next level.
For those of you who want to learn SQL, I've finished the Access SQL 1 Seminar. You can purchase it online and immediately start watching it. It's about 1 hour and 38 minutes long, so it's not as in-depth as my previous monster seminars, but it's more than enough to get you started.
Part 1 deals with teaching you the basics of SQL and how SELECT queries work. This is all about pulling data from your tables, WHERE conditions, ORDER BY sorting, wildcard searches, and lots more - plus a few practical examples.
Now, based on the popularity (i.e. SALES) of Part 1, I'll put together parts 2 and 3. Part 2 will deal with manipulating data (add, delete, edit, etc.) and Part 3 will cover changing the design of your database (tables and queries) using SQL. Of course, the stronger sales of Part 1 are, the higher priority I'll give to these followup seminars.
