It seems like every time I get to the point where I think I'm finished with this Access Email Seminar, I get more people asking for more features. I added a section on Email List Management yesterday. This covers putting people into various (and multiple) mailing lists.
Today, I'm going to TRY and finish this seminar up, but I've got a lot of requests from people to see:
1. Separate Mail Server Database. This is so you can set up a database on your network (or just another PC) that will sit there all day long and do nothing but process emails. Since each email in a large batch can take 3 to 5 seconds to go out, you don't want to lock up a user's workstation while it sends. The mail server database can do this for you.
2. Email to SMS Gateways. Lots of people have asked how to send text messages from the database. Well, you can do this if you know about SMS Gateways. This won't be a very long lesson, but I'll show you how to do it.
3. Collecting Email Addresses on a Web Page. Another very popular topic. I'll show you how to set up a form on your web site that people can fill out. This information will then get emailed back to you. Then...
4. Reading Email From Outlook to your Database. I'll show you how to parse through the emails in your Outlook Inbox, pull the data into your Access database, and then move the emails to a "Finished" folder in Outlook. Good stuff.
OPTIONALLY, I might cover:
5. Exporting files from an Attachment type field in your tables and sending that as an email attachment. I've only had one person ask for this so far, so if you WANT to see this, post a comment below. I personally don't recommend using Attachment data types because they cause database bloat.
OK, that's it. As you can see, I've still got a lot to cover. The seminar is already over 7 hours long, so there's a lot covered already, but if you want to learn how to send email from your database, this is definitely the seminar for you.
