Have you used Meetup.com? It's a site where you can setup groups to meet other people "in person." There are groups for all kinds of things like kayaking, wine tasting, board games, and more.

I just set up a SWFL (that's Southwest Florida for those of you outside of the area) Microsoft Access Developers Group. This would be a great opportunity for those of us in the area to get together once a month or so, share ideas, have some training events, drink coffee (or beer!) and pick each others' brains.
