Transcript Welcome to Microsoft Windows 121 using Microsoft Windows. Brought to you by 599cd.com. I am your instructor, Richard Rost.

Let's go over the objectives for today's class. Today's class is all about the Windows accessories. We are going to talk about the big ones: Calculator, WordPad, Notepad, and Paint.

We are going to teach you how to write a basic business letter, how to make a graphic in Paint, and how to put that graphic inside of your WordPad business letter. We will also talk about some of the other lesser-used accessories that are found in the Accessories folder on your Start menu.

For prerequisites, we recommend you take Windows 101 or Intro to PCs, either Windows 102 or Windows 110 if you are a Windows 98 or XP user, respectively. We also recommend Windows 120, which is our file management course.

In this class, we are going to be using Windows XP, but all of the accessories that we are covering today are in pretty much every version of Windows. So, whether you have Windows 98, 2000, or XP, you should be able to use this class.

We recommend you watch each lesson once completely through. Then watch the lesson a second time, following along with the examples.

The class website for this course is at 599cd.com/windows/121.

Summary Today's video from Windows Learning Zone is all about exploring the various Windows accessories that come with your operating system. I am your instructor, Richard Rost, and I'll be guiding you through the key built-in tools like Calculator, WordPad, Notepad, and Paint.

Our objectives in this class involve more than just introducing these accessories. I'll show you how to compose a basic business letter, create a simple graphic using Paint, and then insert that graphic into your WordPad business letter. In addition, we will look at some of the other lesser-known accessories that you can find in the Accessories folder on your Start menu.

If you are new to Windows, I suggest completing Windows 101 or an Introduction to PCs first. For those running Windows 98 or Windows XP, Windows 102 or Windows 110 will give you the best foundation. It's also helpful if you've already taken Windows 120, which covers file management.

I'll be demonstrating everything in Windows XP for this course, but don't worry if you have a different version of Windows. The accessories featured in this lesson are included in almost every version from Windows 98 right up through XP, so you should be able to follow along no matter which one you are using.

To get the most out of this class, I recommend watching each lesson in its entirety once before attempting the exercises yourself. Then, on your second viewing, work through the examples step by step.
