I'm going to give you five questions covering Access Table Sorting and Filtering. You'll have three seconds for each question, so hit that pause button if you need more time. Keep track of your scores so we can see how you do at the end.
Are you ready to consult the computer? Here we go.
Question 1.
False. Filtering a table deletes the records that do not match the filter.

A field is stored as short text and contains these values: Five, six, nine, and 555. What is its ascending sort order? And you can pick from the options listed.
The correct answer is C. Five, five, five, five, six, and then nine. Remember, this is a short text field, so it's an alphanumeric sort, not a numeric sort.

Why does an Access Date/Time field sort correctly from oldest to newest?
Dates are internally stored as numeric values with earlier dates being smaller. Access alphabetizes the month names before sorting the years. Date fields are automatically converted to short text during a sort, or Access sorts dates by the day of the month first.

Question 4.
You filter a customer table for state equals New York, then add another filter for city equals Buffalo. Which records will be shown?
All customers from New York plus all customers from Buffalo, customers from either New York or Buffalo, but not both, only customers whose state is New York and whose city is Buffalo, or only Buffalo customers because the second filter replaces the first.
That one's going to make you think a bit. That's going to be C, only customers whose state is New York and whose city is Buffalo. When you apply separate filters, they get combined.
And question 5.
After you save a table with a filter applied, what normally happens when you close and reopen that table?
The filter is permanently deleted when the table closes. The filter definition is saved, but it does not automatically reapply. The filter automatically reapplies and cannot be turned off, or Access converts the filter into a permanent query automatically.
