Combo Box Columns

Finishing Access Beginner 8, lesson 3 on the Customer Form and have a question about column width and list width in Property Sheet.  Lesson states totals of column widths, should match list width setting and add up properly. (Starting at 6:55)
I played around with the settings and didn't see where changing the second width in the column width properties had any affect on form view for the "State" combo box.
My example: Column Width: 0.3125";.5" and List Width: 2.0".  Changing the .5 to different sizes didn't seem to have any affect or change anything.  Is this because there are only 2 columns?  and last column may not be affected by the setting?  Thank you.  kc

Since your list width is larger than the combined total of your column widths, you won't see any difference (List Width: 2", Total of 2 column widths = .8125). So your list width will already support any changes in the column widths until they are larger than 2" combined.

If it helps... List width is mostly used when you have a tiny combo box (eg, 2cm) but your list sources are wider than this (eg, 1cm;3cm;).  Then you can set ListWidth to "4cm" so it will display everything you want to see in the list before you select your item in the form's Combo Box (during data entry).  So, you can have your form display an ID number when you have moved past the combo box, but when you are on the combo box the List will display all the information you need to make your choice.
