Error 3314 in Developer48 Code

Hi Richard,
I have incorporated your Developer 48 Course VBA into one of my Forms.
I receive the following error:
ERROR:3314 You must enter a value in 'ClusterDatesT.Location' field./

The table is correct the field is correct, the field is not indexed.  Location is fifth in Design.  See Below.  Any ideas?

If the error is in the Location field we need to see the properties for that field. You are showing the properties for StageUnitType.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the response.  I have investigated a little further and have found part of the issue.  Location had as a Property Required = Yes.  I changed this property on the Location field in the table to Required = No.  Ran the copy again and the error disappeared for that field. Changed the rest of the fields with Required = YES to NO however the copied record fields are blank or zero. Now checking why? Probably me!

Having looked Further at the new records created, it's like I have read the correct record but the VBA provided writes a new blank record with (1) one text field populated with the default value in the table design all numeric fields zero, all text fields Blank and the only date field blank.

Records 2191 & 2192 are records created by another program which are correct, records 2197 - 2201 are what the Copy code from the vault has created.

Hi,
Further to my issues above I want to change the field StageType from the standard value "S" to "U" when I run this copy record.
As this code is generic I am wondering how best to set this up.  In the Developer video the Email field is setup as unique my field is not unique and I want to replace the value with "U" not "S".
My solution is to setup a table with field called TableName. FieldName and ReplacementValue and in the vault code do a Dlookup for for field name in this table if the field exists use ReplacementText instead of the field in rs1.

Or is there a better way?

Regards

Ron de Boer

Hi, Have found the error why not then code was creating a new record not the record for rs1! :-) My fault but I did find it.

It now copies correctly! Yay!!
