Can a Recordset Manipulate Data in Report
Tom Mauldin

I have report that I would like to manipulate before it opens. I want to be able to check some textboxes in the report and if they contain duplicate data then change one of the boxes visible attribute to false so it doesn't show in the report. Don't know if this can be done at all much less with recordset.

Do it in the query not the report. John

To verify, do you want to exclude entire records? If so do as John suggested and limit them before the report.

Or do you want to remove a specific textbox while leaving the rest of the information on the duplicate records?

The report is a directory of members that contains husband and wife, but some wives have a different last name.  What I would like to do is compare the last names and if they are the same remove the wife's last name from the report and leave the ones that are different. Thought I could do it with a recordset but every way I have tried gives me an error.

Can't you just do a textbox with an IIF?

=IIF(WifeLastName=HusbandLastName,"",WifeLastName)
That should be blank if they match, and if not, it should show the wifes last name.
