SQL Server New Records
Jon Nelson

I have moved my back-end to SQL Server, but now I notice that my forms are not allowing me to add new records even when the form is based on a linked table. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to correct my forms to create SQL-Server append queries to add records? I have watched Richard's SQL-Server seminar and am about half-way through watching it again. Is there any other videos I should be watching about transitioning a database over to SQL-Server? What was a working database previously using only Access is now throwing up errors in several spots now. Is this typical?

I was pretty surprised by how much work it ended up being to get a functioning access database to work again after migrating the backend to SQL server - about as much time as I spent originally developing the database, that’s how much time I spent making it work again. But I didn’t have issues with updating records through a form based on a linked table, only if the form was based on a pass through query (read only), or a complicated view. Are there Boolean values, and if so have they been updated on the server end to not allow null values and to have a default value?

Do you have any bit fields? (Yes/No). Common problem to run into where you can't run add new records because they're being created with nulls in the yes/no field. Set a default value in SSMS for all your bit fields.
