Control Source Reference

I have a form with a subform.  One the main form I just want to copy the text from a textbox in the subform.  The vba control source for the textbox on the main form works great.  =subformname.textbox for example.  My question is this:  The value reflected is the number from the combobox that is deposited in the subform - not the narrative associated with the number.  I see the number "8" on the mainform textbox, which is correct, but the number "8" in the combobox equates to "Sold".  I want the text 'sold' in the mainform box, not the reference number from the helper table.  Hope this makes sense.  Thanks.

Where does "Sold" live?
Is it in its own Table?

You could look at getting it from the Column property of the ComboBox.

You're a genius Alex.  I successfully got the value copied and it updates when I make a change (a thing of beauty it is!).  Only thing now (which happens a lot to me) is now when the form loads the copied value is not there.  I tried to add a me.soldstatus.requery on the form load but it doesn't work.  Somehow I need to get the text box to load the value when I go into the form.  Many thanks.

You open the Parent Form
It has the SubForm in it.
SoldStatus combo already has a value bound to it?

The combo box is linked to a helper table that only has an autonumber ID and a list of sold status' (obligtated, sold-as-is, pending sale, etc.).  I can get the column number to give me text e.g. 'pending'.  But I want to copy that work "pending" to another cell.  I can get that but when the form loads the textbox is blank.  If I manually go into the combo box and select another status it will copy the text I want.  Hope that makes sense.  Thanks for your help.

Is the TextBox on the Parent Form bound to a Field in the RecordSource?

The target textbox is on the parent form and is unbound.  There is no control source.  The subform (which has the text I want to push to the target textbox) is using an event to copy the value.

You could look at the Form_Load event or On_Current.
You could also DLookup too
Can't remember the order the sub forms to parent will load so you might have to play about.

Also might be useful:
Value From a Form
Value From Subform

Ahh, DLOOKUP.!.  I've watched the video several times but haven't tried it.  Now it's time...  Thanks for the advice - I'm on the right track now.  All the best to you.
