Recordsetclone Question
Alan Hill

Hi Richard
I just read your comments on RecordSetClone

I use it a lot because, I have a subform for entering actors names associated with a particular movie
I want to double click on the Actor/Actress in the SubForm's combobox name and go to that record on the Actors form.
For convenience I may want to look at other names on that form.

So filtering the form is not an option. I need to have full use of the form and go to any record when it is opened.
So I use

Dim rs as Object
Dim lngBookmark as Long

lngBookmark = MeActorCombo
DoCmd.OpenForm  "ActorF"

Set rs = Forms!ActorF.RecordSetClone
rs.FindFirst "ID=" & lngBookMark
Forms!ActorF.Bookmark = rs.BookMark
Set rs = Nothing

Do you have another way of opening to a specific record which does not filter the form and does not use RecordSetClone.

Best wishes

I keep finding interesting stuff in your Forums. That's why I keep coming back to read them.

Reply from Richard Rost:

You could just open the form and then use DoCmd.FindRecord which would move you to the correct ID. No need for a clone if that's all you want to do.
