Date Field Wont Accept New Format
Mark Fannin

I have a form with a medium date format.  I need to change it to a general date format so I can see the time the order was placed.  I changed the format at the table and in the form property sheet as well.  I saved it, I closed it, and I opened it and it's still medium format. I should be able to get this done.  I even went to chatgpt and it didn't offer anything I haven't tried.  Many thanks.

What format are new records getting?

From the date picker it goes in as 3/20/2025.  After I click out of the field it goes to 20-Mar-25.

The table and control source show general date format.  That's the thing.  It all looks like it should change format but it's stuck somehow.

I too had this problem, and the solution for me was to delete the date text box on the form, then re-insert the date text box from the list of available fields.

Thanks John.  I changed it as you mentioned.  The fields now accepts any format EXCEPT general format.  What the heck!  It will take short, medium, etc.  But not general - which is what I need because it has the date and time.  Thanks for your help.  All the best, Mark in Colorado.

Looks like I will have to manually type in the format I need.  I just hope that won't mess up my search dates in my queries.

Try setting the text box to grow...

Another thiught came to mind. Why not use an After Update event in VBA using Format(DateValue, "yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss")

Format correction to John's suggestion.  Minutes are "nn" not "mm".   Therefore,  "yyyy-mm-dd hh:nn:ss AM/PM"
