start up access with the shift key  then back out whatever change you had.... or reload your backup to the last time it worked..

Have tried the shift key and did not help. Can see all the tables, etc. and can open them in design mode only. Loaded last backup which was four days old. Guess will have to redo the changes during that period. Thought had backed up yesterday but does not show that I did. Thanks for trying...

can you copy the tables to a new database?

Yes, of course! Just create a new database file and import your old objects. You could try importing all the objects at once, and if that doesn't work, if you're still having problems, import the objects one at a time until you figure out which ones are causing the issues.

Make sure you run down the troubleshooter.
