Not sure what the event or macro is supposed to do. I don't remember the class, and you won't use macros for long before getting into VBA.

But usually when setting values when you open a form, the problem you're going to run into is you are creating the record then when you open the form. It will immediately be "dirty" because you set a value directly instead of "default value" and if you just "X" out, you will have created a record that you might not have wanted to. So you'd have to take further steps to "cancel" the record on close if you wanted to do that route.
