I have a form with a field jobnumber (text) and would like to build a hyperlink on that form that navigates to a certian folder where a pdf file resides. This path is duplicated multiple time in seperate job folders the only part of the path that changes is the jobnumber.

how can I build a hyperlink path that adds the jobnumber to the path.

example:

I:\projects\JobNumber\Billing\contract.pdf

the JobNumber would be filled in from the JobNumber Field from that form.

Any help would be appreciated.

A hyperlink is essentially a TEXT field that's composed of 3 parts

TextToDisplay#LocationOfFile#Bookmark

So if you want to link to a file called contract, you would make:

Contract#I:\projects\JobNumber\Billing\contract.pdf#

You don't need to specify a bookmark location at the end. Now what you could do is use the VBA REPLACE function to swap out some text in your path (like "JobNumber") and replace it with the actual JobN field. Like this:

MyPath = "I:\projects\JobNumber\Billing\contract.pdf"
MyPath = REPLACE(MyPath,"JobNumber",JobN)

Assuming you have a field on your form called JobN, your MyPath variable will end up looking like:

I:\projects\456789\Billing\contract.pdf

Then just build your hyperlink and you're good to go.
