Date Syntax Error
Shallena Ayers

I am following along making the ContactT and we adding the fields. We add ContactDate as date/time and for Default value we put =Date() when i type that as the default value i am getting an error pop up box that says There was an error compiling this function. The visual Basic Module contains a syntax error. Check the code, and then recompile it. I cant figure out what the issue is. I have a snip of this if i can figure out how to add it.

I wanted to mention that I have Microsoft 365. I Uninstaller and reinstalled access in case that was the issue.

Please be more specific. See Rule #2.

Hi, Shallena.
You're following along where?
Where are you entering this information? Are you entering it when you are defining the contactT, or are you entering this information on a form?

I fully understand that the question you asked makes absolute sense to you; however, we cannot see what you're seeing. Bring us into the picture by using screenshots, showing tables in design view, forms in design view, and taking a snapshot of the actual error message.

I thought i uploaded a photo but looks like i didnt hit the upload part.  sorry about that.  I was making a table and added a ContactDate field and made it date/time.  And then was going to put =Date() as the default value and i got that message.

it seems like there are other things going on?  I clicked on the button in the Form Design ribbon and when i clicked where I wanted the button I got the Compile Error.  I didnt do anything other than click where I wanted the button to be.

For the button that I tried to add to my form that gave me the error in the picture.. Instead of going through the wizard, in the property sheet for the button on the On Click option in vba I just did the DoCmd.OpenForm.  and everything looked good and I saved.  Then I closed the form after saving and reopened the Customer Form.  The button I was working on was to open the Contact Form where we add notes on any contact we have with a borrower.  When I clicked the button to open the Contact Form This happened.  I dont know what the GlobalMod is.  I have not seen that before.  It is under Modules.

You are missing the 'O' from Option Compare Database
