Questionare data
Megan

I have data from a questionare I would like to input into Access 2010 and link it to a specific project.  I have a table created already which includes the name of the project, the date, number of attendees, etc.  What would be the most effective way to include survey results for a particular project?  For example, the first question reads:  Was the delivered content helpful and relevant to you in your career/job search?  (Circle One) Not helpful, Somewhat helpful, Neutral, Very helpful.  *The questionaries are annonomous and not tied to a specific attendee.
When I pull reports, I would like to be able to read the full question and see the results of how many attendees of each event (project) answered the appropriate fields.
What would be the best way to go about setting this up?

Thank you,
Megan

Reply from Richard Rost:

I would set up tables for:

QuestionT
QuestionID:1
Text:"what is your favorite color"

AnswersT - for allowed responses to multiple choice questions
QuestionID:1
AnswerID:1
AnswerText: "blue"
---
QuestionID:1
AnswerID:2
AnswerText: "red"
---
etc

Then you need a table to track user responses:

ResponseT
ID:1
QuestionID:1
AnswerID:2

Then you might want to add a Respondee table too so you can track the person who is taking the quiz.

That's how I would set it up.

P.S. If there's any interest in me creating a QUESTIONNAIRE database seminar, post here. If a dozen or so people are interested, I'll add it to the Waiting List. I've been asked about this occasionally throughout the last couple of years.
