Running Balance in Access

Dear Richard, I am not too sure if you have covered Running Sums in classes. I am using Quicken Money Program and would love to know how to have a running balance after each deposit or withdrawal in a subform or on a mainform. So have the Date, ChequeNo, Description, Category for that expense, Withdrawal and/or Expense then the running balance. Would love you do a seminar on running Balances.

Is there anyway to memorise the transaction in Access?, Enter the Payment Type and the rest of the transaction is automatically added, like Quicken. I just pay so much money every year to update Quicken, reckon that I can do a better job in Access. Building your Amortization DB at the moment, many thanks Richard

Regards Selby

Reply from Richard Rost:

Running balances are real easy to show in reports. Just set the RUNNING SUM property of the field to TRUE. In Forms, however, it's a lot trickier. You have to use the DSUM function to add up all of the records before it. I talk about it more in this thread.

Memorizing a transaction? Sure. That would just be another couple of fields to remember the default values for the transaction to that payee (ActualAmountPaid, DefaultAmountPaid - for new items).
