Access Export to Word Doc Then Restrict Editing
Jonathan Crymes

LOT of hours trying to get Access 2019 to Restrict Editing a Word document (MS Off. Prof. 2019) after successfully exporting data to bookmarks in the doc and saving it with a new filename. It compiles fine, but when I Open the Word doc, editing is not restricted. I've tried other ways but don't want to make this post a novel.

I've tried locking the entire document and then allowing only editing in Section 2:

' **Restrict Editing Except for E-Signature Section**
    Dim editor As Object

' Lock entire document first
    wdDoc.Protect Type:=wdAllowOnlyReading, NoReset:=True, Password:="YourSecurePassword"

I've tried creating Sections in the document and allowing editing in just 1 section (Section 2 here)
    ' Allow editing in Section 2 (E-Signature)
    Set editor = wdDoc.Sections(2).Range.Editors.Add(wdEditorEveryone)

    ' **Restrict Editing While Keeping Signature Line Editable**
    wdDoc.Protect Type:=wdAllowOnlyFormFields, NoReset:=True, Password:="YourSecurePassword"

This is a job for a pdf.  Not for word

I'm w/ Bill here: Adobe offers e-sign for PDF documents.  The only other option would be for the user to print the secured document, actually sign it, scan and return as PDF, but that is not always an efficient method depending on your situation and volume of incoming documents.

I understand but was looking for an answer about the code. Thanks!
