Searching for a Subform Record From Main Menu

First, I am a super Newbie, thats why my forms look pretty much like Richards videos. I havent gotten to be creative yet. Until 2 months ago I was working strictly with tables like a caveman!

Anyway. My database is for me at work to track my labor hours as an automotive technician. For context, a VIN number in my database is the equivelant to a customer and an RO number would be like a Contact.

My data releates to the management software the shop uses. The way my permissions are in the shops software, once they have cosed the ticket, I no longer have access to the vin. I only see make and model along with RO number.

I need to use that data in my database to get me to the vin. My Main Menu is my starting point. I want a search field on main menu that searches for an RO number, finds the corresponding VIN and opens the vehicle (VIN) form for that specific vehiclewith the RO subform open to that RO.

Richard's Find Record Combo video starts from what would be my vehicle form. I need to start from a search field in a different form. THis is my first post, I will add scrreen shot if I can find how. THANK YOU for your time.
