Problem Mixing Tabbed and Modal Popups
Michael Medici

All,

My db has a mixture of tabbed and popup forms.  Makes it easier to navigate for users and looks better.  The issue is that even when I set the popup form to modal, the form can appear anywhere on the screen, or not at all (especially for people who switch between multiple displays and one display).  Is there any way around this to force all modal popups to be within the Access screen?

I've personally never been able to get this to happen on my machine as far as random opening, but I know Richard has talked about it a lot in his videos as why he doesn't like using "popup". I can manually move a form to another screen, save it there, and then when I try to open it, I can't find it, but not just random opening.

In my scenario, however, I was able to force it back into the access window by opening the form in design view and setting the "AutoCenter" property to "Yes". Then it will always open near the upper center of the Access window.

However, if you are using "Modal", you don't need to set the popup property. Modal will always popup inside access window and can't be moved outside of unless the popup property is set.

Popups have issues in access forms. Avoid them if you can. Modal are ok
